Club Mounted Lesson Procedures

GCPC Mounted Lesson Procedures (2.18.20)

[]  Members pay for lessons outside of club dues & fees

[] The club maintains a lesson account for each member that is added to by the member and when a lesson occurs the account is charged based on the cost of the lesson.

[] A minimum of $40 should be maintained so last minute scrambling for checks prior a lesson isn't necessary.  Typical deposits are $100 or $150 to make things simple.

[] Evite is the tool used to both notify members of lessons and for members to RSVP

[] Typically Evites will go out 2 weeks prior to the lesson.

[] The RSVP list as of 4 days prior to the lesson is the official rider count used to set groups.  For example, Wednesday at 9am is 4 days prior to Sunday lessons at 9am.  This allows the club to set expectations for the trainer on times and number of groups.

[] The ride groups will be sent via Evite 3-4 days prior to the lesson.

[] If a rider has something occur within the 4 day window they can try to find a replacement, otherwise they are committed to pay for the lesson (since we had already committed to the trainer).  If a replacement is found the RSVPs need to be updated accordingly with a note and the lesson organizer must be informed.

[] Every attempt is made to keep our lesson schedule but weather and trainer issues do arise.  The organizer will provide as much notice as possible to the riders should changes occur.

[] The members lesson account balance will carry over to the next year.  If you decide not to renew your membership you have until the end of January of the year you are no longer a member to request a refund of your account.

[] A mounted lesson calendar is reviewed and approved at the February Club meeting, however the mounted lesson coordinator is allowed to make adjustments should issues arise.  Examples include weather, Trainer issues, changes in regional activities.

[] The current balances will be shared upon request to the mount lesson coordinator.

[] Mounted lessons (or lessons near/around a horse) require a USPC armband or wristband.  If you do not have this at the lesson you cannot ride.  This is required for insurance coverage.

[] Please treat our mounted lesson locations with respect.  Clean up after yourself and your horse.

[] Please treat our instructors with respect and present yourself and your horse in a clean, tidy, and professional manner ON TIME.  We have club shirts that can have your name added to help our instructors get to know who we are.

[] Some locations require a haul in fee (typically $10 for USPC).  You will be expected to pay that directly to the facility.
